In recognition of Black History Month, Sirius Cycles will be featuring cyclists of color for the month of February.
Can this woman become the first female African-American professional road cyclist? Ayesha McGowan of Brooklyn believes she could to be the first to do so. A pre-school music teacher during the week, she can usually be found doing something bike related on the weekends.
In only her second year of racing bikes, Ayesha McGowan brought home the 2015 New York State Cat.-3 road race championship. The 29-year-old preschool music teacher is also the program director for the nonprofit InTandem, which uses tandem bikes to provide riding opportunities to people with disabilities. Currently Ayesha rides for Razzle Dazzle Racing out of Northern California and is Cat.-2 racer slowly moving up towards her goal. You can find out more of goals accomplishments on her webpage A Quick Brown Fox and her Instagram feed @ayesuppose.
If any of you have information on professional female cyclists of color, please Contact Us with any information to Sirius Cycles and we will get them out for the others.
