A 600km route created as preparation for Paris-Brest-Paris 2027…
A ~600km excursion from the Zia Road Rail Runner Station in Santa Fe to the city of Belen, NM, passing through many locales circumnavigating many surrounding areas, then heading back North to Santa Fe. This brevet route was created as preparation for Paris-Brest-Paris 2027…
Rider should be arriving at the Zia Road Rail Runner Train Station around 5:45am. Departure time from the Zia Road Rail Runner Station will be on Saturday, June 20th, 2026 at 6am as we will have 40hrs. to complete the brevet. (Departure time may begin a little earlier if riders feel that may better.) Multiple *resupply stops will be available along the route, but time spent at stops will not be extensive as we will have to maintain an average of tempo speed of about ~20km/hr (~12.4mi/hr) to get back to Santa Fe, NM within the 40hr. brevet time limit.
Tubes and pumps (etc…), as well as front and rear lights are recommended as we will be riding into the evening as the night sky will be upon us. *We will be passing several stops for food/water, but it would be advised to bring your money, burritos, meal replacements, electrolytes, etc. to compensate for some areas. While the brevet will mostly be a no-drop ride, please be aware that riders who are attempting to complete the full route will have to maintain a certain pace to finish the ride by the afternoon/evening on Sunday, June 21st. Riders may be satisfied with a shorter ride such as reaching Santa Fe during the first leg of the brevet. There will also be other NM Rail Runner stops to rely as well.
Since this will be a brevet exceeding some riders’ capabilities to be completed in one day, there will be rooms reserved at the **Baymont by Wyndham and/or the Travelodge by Wyndham, both located in Belen, NM at about 360km/233.7mi. for riders to rest/sleep.
Of course, please be aware that this is a fully self-supported ride for your personal enjoyment and is taken at your own risk! If you feel that you may be limited in your abilities to complete the ride, make sure to have someone ready to pick you up along the route as this ride is dependent that we back to Santa Fe in due time. Sirius Cycles will assume no responsibility for any mishaps or accidents during this ride. Riders may reconsider participating if there is heavy weather/very strong winds present on the day.
