An attempt of a 300km excursion from the Zia Road Rail Runner Station in Santa Fe beyond the lower depths of Bernalillo County, completing the route of the Tour of the Rio Grande (100mi.), then heading back northward to Albuquerque catch the Los Ranchos/Journal Center Rail Runner Station (El Pueblo Road Northeast), back to Santa Fe.
Departure time from the Zia Road Rail Runner Station will be on *Saturday, July 22nd, 2023 at 6:00am (or thereabouts) as we will have about 12hrs. to complete the brevet. Multiple resupply stops will be available along the route, but time spent at stops will not be too long as we will have to maintain an average of tempo speed of about 25.5km/hr (15.8mi/hr) for the 6:35pm train, or the 8:38pm train at a rate of 21.9km/hr (13.6mi/hr.) to complete the endeavor.
A front and rear light would be recommended as we will be arriving home as the dark will be upon us. Of course, we will be passing several stops for food, but it would be advised to your burritos, meal replacements, electrolytes, etc. to compensate for some areas. While the brevet will mostly a no-drop ride, please be aware that riders who are attempting to complete the full route will have to maintain a certain pace to catch one of the 2 trains. Riders may be satisfied with a shorter ride such as just reaching Albuquerque.

A 200km excursion from the Zia Road Rail Runner Station in Santa Fe to Los Lunas (South of Albuquerque) via Moriarty/Route 66, passing through many locales in Albuqu and the surrounding areas, then heading to the Los Lunas Rail Runner Station, catching the train back to Santa Fe.
Departure time from the Zia Road Rail Runner Station will be on *Saturday, Sept. 9th, 2023 at about 7:00am as we will have about 9hrs. or so to complete the brevet. Multiple resupply stops will be available along the route, but time spent at stops will not be too long as we will have to maintain an average of tempo speed of about 21km/hr (13mi/hr) for the 5:50pm train to complete the endeavor.
A front and rear light would be recommended as we will be arriving home as the dark will be upon us. We will be passing several stops for food, but it would be advised to bring your burritos, meal replacements, electrolytes, etc. to compensate for some areas. While the brevet will mostly be a no-drop ride, please be aware that riders who are attempting to complete the full route will have to maintain a certain pace to catch the train. Riders may be satisfied with a shorter ride such as just reaching Albuquerque.

A ~260km excursion from the Zia Road Rail Runner Station in Santa Fe to the Montaño Rail Runner Station (in Albuquerque, NM) via south on NM 14, passing through many locales circumnavigating Albuquerque and the surrounding areas, then heading to the Montaño Rail Runner Station catching the train back to Santa Fe.
Rider should be arriving at the Zia Road Rail Runner Train Station around 7am. Departure time from the Zia Road Rail Runner Station will be on Saturday, April 12th, 2025 at 7:10am-7:15am as we will have roughly 13hrs. to complete the brevet. Multiple *resupply stops will be available along the route, but time spent at stops will not be extensive as we will have to maintain an average of tempo speed of about 22km/hr (13.7mi/hr) for the last train northbound at Montaño Rail Runner Station at 8:32pm train back to Santa Fe, NM.
Tubes and pumps (etc…), as well as front and rear lights are recommended as we will be arriving home as the night sky will be upon us. *We will be passing several stops for food/water, but it would be advised to bring your burritos, meal replacements, electrolytes, etc. to compensate for some areas. While the brevet will mostly be a no-drop ride, please be aware that riders who are attempting to complete the full route will have to maintain a certain pace to catch the train. Riders may be satisfied with a shorter ride such as reaching the Trader Joe’s (North Albuquerque…) via Tramway Blvd. northward towards Sandia Heights.
