These are the kind of projects that we enjoy here at Sirius Cycles, the person that has an idea that would like to turn into a reality.
Eli has been a regular at the shop for a little over a year now and he has been pondering a build that would give him the most ability for transportation in and outside of Santa Fe. After a few visits to find out what his intended uses for the bike, we came up with the bike pictured below.
He was looking for particular green accents that would highlight the bike darker side. Not going over the top, we chose a few areas to focus on, mainly the cable housing, bar tape and saddle. Not the ‘lightest of guys’, Eli wanted a wheelset that he could get to school with in one piece as well as some rip-riding on the weekends. The Rolf Prima ECX Disc wheelset was something that fit the budget of his wallet. The strong, no-mess ECX Discs paired with the venerable Schwalbe Marathons should provide him with ample safety on the mean, occasionally potholed streets of Santa Fe.
It was also good to finally get our hands on the Shimano’s Tiagra 4700 groupset. Since Tiagra does not have a disc brake option with the groupset, in our opinion the TRP Spyre Road/CX Disc Brake set was the best way forward. Easy to install and a hassle-free setup insured a speedy build. And what else can we say about a nice steel fork. Salsa’s Vaya road fork eliminated the brake chatter that he was experiencing with the unbranded carbon fork from before. On the comfy side of things, ISM’s Adamo Road saddle and Lizard Skins DSP 2.5 Bar Tape round out the package.
Give a wave if you happen to catch Eli on the street or in the classroom. Enjoy the ride…
