An attempt of a 300km excursion from the Zia Road Rail Runner Station in Santa Fe beyond the lower depths of Bernalillo County, completing the route of the Tour of the Rio Grande (100mi.), then heading back northward to Albuquerque catch the Los Ranchos/Journal Center Rail Runner Station (El Pueblo Road Northeast), back to Santa Fe.
Departure time from the Zia Road Rail Runner Station will be on *Saturday, July 22nd, 2023 at 6:00am (or thereabouts) as we will have about 12hrs. to complete the brevet. Multiple resupply stops will be available along the route, but time spent at stops will not be too long as we will have to maintain an average of tempo speed of about 25.5km/hr (15.8mi/hr) for the 6:35pm train, or the 8:38pm train at a rate of 21.9km/hr (13.6mi/hr.) to complete the endeavor.
A front and rear light would be recommended as we will be arriving home as the dark will be upon us. Of course, we will be passing several stops for food, but it would be advised to your burritos, meal replacements, electrolytes, etc. to compensate for some areas. While the brevet will mostly a no-drop ride, please be aware that riders who are attempting to complete the full route will have to maintain a certain pace to catch one of the 2 trains. Riders may be satisfied with a shorter ride such as just reaching Albuquerque.
